About the CreatorMy name is Stephen Oswald. This portfolio is my personal record of my journey as I work towards my goal of becoming a English Language Arts teacher. I hope that this portfolio can offer some insight into who I am and what the path to becoming a teacher looks like.
Now, before we get too far, it's important to understand why I have chosen Dungeons and Dragons as my theme for this portfolio. In the introduction of this portfolio (see below), I have a video which explores my teaching philosophy. My philosophy focuses heavily on making education an experience worth having. One that inspires students to learn and encourages students to take risks and explore. The way I approach teaching is very similar to how I approach running a game of Dungeons and Dragons. So I made the decision to design a more creative view of my experience for others to experience. I plan for my future students to create a portfolio like this for themselves as means for them to see their education progressing and better understand how important academic growth and understanding is to everyday life. It is also my intention that my students can view this portfolio as a means to get to know me better and see that there is power in vulnerability. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on my journey. |

"I am a DM teacher. I take into consideration the social and physical environment,
the attributes each student offers, a mastery of the subject, and with the goal of being inspired to learn,
I try to create a journey in which students can embody education and make it their own."
